“Change”

By Jeff Frank

“The first law of the universe is “Change”, everything is in flux or change every moment. Ten years ago, some folks had a dream that someday there would be no use for “toxic genetic chemicals”.

That someday we would wake up and find “alternatives” that were better and safe to use. That we would be using more of our minds and respond rather than react. That there would be places we could go to educate ourselves to “Low Tech, Common Sense” approach to our lives and the environment. That someday old and new dis-eases would be diminished and eliminated because we would understand that they were enviornmentally driven and simple “Nutrition” was the answer all along. Dis-eases like ALS, Parkinson’s, cancer, asthma, heart dis-ease and many more could be driven out by alternative thinking and responding.

That our own backyards could always be safe to play on and attract song birds to them.

Well it is not here yet, however it is changing and well meaning and enlightened people are making it happen faster by great personal sacrifice, determination and a vision of a better world. Safe from “remote tyranny”.

Our founding fathers gave us the right to enjoy “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”, free from “remote tyranny". In those days remote tyranny was a King and Parliament several thousand miles to the east, that knew or cared nothing for this country except to exploit it for money. That is still happening, however the remote tyranny is now toxic genetic chemicals, mutagens, heavy metals and estrogen dis-rupters, nuclear waste, polution, garbage and the exploitation of our forests, lands and waters.

Nuclear waste will terrorize our future generations for up to 50,000 years. Look at the effect of nuclear tipped ammunition (that we use to get rid of) and leave it in countries in small deposits that we attack. Bosnia, Iraq, Somalia are just a few of the countries that we have practiced “remote tyranny” on.

The cruelest joke of all is that we only affect ourselves and future generations with this deadly new invention. What are we to do? The solution rests in the problem. To solve it we must identify the problem, its cause and develop ways to understand and eliminate it. WE do this by EDUCATION. We have been educated to be in the dangerous situation and we can educate ourselves out of the situation. We are in a “Strategy of Tragedy”.

In Eastern New York on Long Island we have the Lyceum of Organic Horticulture. This small school has for seven years been producing graduates called “Green Guerrillas” that go out and educate themselves first, then their families, employees and then their customers. Creating a rupple effect that is worldwide.e “Green Guerrillas are not Eco-terrorists but CEO’s and backyard gardeners, women and men, young by seventeen and old by seventy-seven that are making a difference.

Our properties will become better looking, healthier, safe to walk on and cost effective to use. That when we see weeds, insects and dis-ease we realize they are the messengers and the solution is food, not chemicals. Our world is suffering from MAL-NUTRITION and those three horsemen are telling us just that. Feed the problem and it goes away. Understand the problem and its size gets smaller. Love the problem as a learning experience and it vanishes. “Believe it and you will see it”

“WNYSOH” in Buffalo and organizations like it are making a difference. It’s slow, daunting, frustrating and full of rejections from so called rational people that do not trust simple solutions and have a hard time breaking Paradigms.

Organics change us from rational to “reasonable” humans.

Be part of good change, READ some of the wonderful books on organics. Listen, experiment and mostly have FUN! Organics is fun!

Let us be free from remote tyranny.
