Simple Pickled Quail Egg recipe
An easy protein rich snack! I love the pickling process and the quail eggs are so dang cute this is a fun & simple recipe to preserve your eggs. You can see my dog eyeing them down hoping for a treat, everyone loves them.
Ingredients:
Hard boiled quail eggs
White vinegar
Salt
Garlic cloves
Peppercorns
Jalapeño
Instruction:
Boil and peel quail eggs. I start the eggs in cold water then bring it to a boil and turn them off the heat. After 5 minutes they are good to go. Peeling can be tedious, lightly crack the egg to make your life a little easier. Place clean eggs in a clean jar.
Making the brine: 1 cup of vinegar and 1 teaspoon of salt, bring to a boil. Simple and easy. For this recipe I added in garlic, peppercorns and half of a jalapeño for a little spice. Once the salt is dissolved the brine is ready.
Pour the brine over the eggs placed in the jar
Seal the jar and store in the fridge for at least 48 hours so the flavors can settle in
This recipe is not shelf stable and should be placed in the fridge which will keep the eggs for several months though they never last long because they’re so delicious. You can use different vinegars, add more or less spices, there is a lot of leeway with pickling eggs. Have fun with it and don’t think too hard.
